Questions and Answers

We cannot begin to put into words how blessed we have been since announcing our plan to adopt. Since we announced our plan to adopt we have received so many questions about our journey. Here are some of the questions asked to us.

Why are you adopting?
We have felt very strong about adoption since before we started trying to have kids. I think God knew what he was doing when he laid it on our hearts. We knew long before losing Camryn that we would adopt one day. This is a very touchy subject for us. Please be careful in the way you word why not just have more kids. We know that God has laid this on our hearts and we want to honor his wish for our lives.

Where will Baby Matticola be born?
We are pursuing domestic adoption, which means we are adopting from the United States. We will not know which state our baby will be born until we are selected by a birth mom.

How does this process work?
First we have chosen our adoption path. We have chosen to use Adoption consultants not just one particular agency. We have officially be approved. (YAY!!!) As of right now we will go on the January list to be presented to birth moms. Now that we have been approved we will work with Courtney and she will guide us through the next step. This will be our home study. We will also have to complete a profile book about us. This will be what the agencies use to present us to birth moms. After we complete the home study, our profile book, and some fundraising we will be presented to birth moms.

How long will it take?
We are not sure! The typical adoption process can take anywhere from just a few months to a few years. Our adoption consultants will help make this process go quicker and smoother. They have never had a family wait more than 9 months to bring their baby home( once the family went active and was presented). We are praying that by next Christmas (2015) we will have a baby home.

What are the expenses of adoption?
Most people assume that since we are adopting from the U.S. it will be cheaper, however adoption is expensive. Adoptions in the U.S. typically range from $20,000 to $45,000. The cost is very scary and most people have been shocked to learn how much it is going to cost. Our plan to fund this adoption is through fundraising and grants. Once we are home study approved we can apply for grants. Our consultant will work with us through this process. We are currently looking into different fundraiser options. Right now we are in the process of the baby bottle fund (filling bottles with change). We are planning on a Yard Sale also. If you have any good fundraising ideas please share.

How Old? Gender? Race?

We will be adopting a newborn. We are open to whatever God presents us.

How can you help?
The number one way is we would love for you to be a part of our journey through prayer! There are so many unknowns in this process; we are putting our faith in God during this process and we know that he has a plant for us. He is in control of this journey. Please pray that we continue to trust him through this journey. You can also help us by asking your friends to join in on praying for us during this time.

Also if you feel led to help us fund our adoption we have a go fund me link set up on our blog. It is listed as Adoption Fund on the side of the page.

Please keep asking us questions about our journey. Again we are so thankful to have friends like you to walk with us along this journey. We know that this baby is going to be loved by so many.

***We would also like to thank those of you that have turned your bottles in already. Please let me know if you still need a bottle. I am trying really hard to remember ever person who has told me they wanted one.
