Overdue Update

We have officially been active since the end of January. This means that we can present to birth moms. A little bit of info. On how it works. We receive an e-mail or phone call with a situation and we decide(pray and listen to God) if we feel it is right then we present. We have present to a few birth moms. They receive a certain amount of profile books and pick a family.

Since we have been active we have been very busy saving money.  We are so close to our goal. We have hosted a BBQ, shared. Our go fund me page , and just been saving like crazy on our end.

Our next fundraising push is going to be a big yard sale, we are hoping to have it  the first weekend in May.  As you are spring cleaning we will gladly take any job a you are getting rid of off your hands to put into the sale.

Please keep sharing our Go fund me page as well.  Again we could not have done any of this without all the love and support of our friends, family, community and complete strangers.  We pray everyday that it will be our day that we  receive a phone call to pick up a baby.

p.s. These updates are done from my phone. Please excuse any typos.

200 Envelopes for Baby Matticola

We have created a new fundraiser to help us bring a baby home. Do not worry we will still be collecting the baby bottles as well. The new fundraiser is called 200 envelopes for Baby Matticola. You can join our group on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/760603750679926/. Or you can search for the group 200 envelopes for baby matticola. If you are not a member of facebook and would like a number just leave a comment on here and I will put your name down for that envelope.

How it works:

Step 1: Choose the envelope you want. There are 200 envelopes, numbered 1-200.
1. You can choose the number of an envelope and donate that amount. If you choose 53, you would donate $53.00.
2. You can get together with a group of friends (from work, sunday school, church, school, etc.) and choose an envelope and together you would fill the envelope with that amount. The higher number envelopes are good for this. If you chose 198, then together you would raise $198.00.

Step 2: Send us a check or cash with that amount of money. Email me and I can send you our address or we can meet up if you are local.

Step 3: Celebrate!!! You just helped in an awesome way and we are now one step closer to bringing Baby Matticola home.

Home Study

Home Study

We are excited to announce our Home Study will be next Saturday, November 22nd. She will arrive at our house around 10:00 am. She said it would not take more than 3 hours. During this time she will be interviewing us and going over paper work. We are a little nervous so please send a few extra prayers up this week for us. We have everything ready except for a few more paper work items we need to complete. Our HS packet contained 59 pages of things we had to complete so we have been very busy over the past week since we submitted our application to the HS Agency. Not all of these items had to be completed before she arrived but we wanted to make a good impression. I think we will know our results within 30 days of her visiting us.  To anyone who is reading this and has had a HS before any tips are welcome. We feel like we are ready for this and we know that God has a plan for us.

Baby Bottle Fundraiser Update:

We have collected several baby bottles back and passed them back out as quick as we are receiving them. Thank you to those who have filled yours up already. With the baby bottles we have received back so far we have been able to pay for our applications and agency fees. We really appreciate all the prayers and support we have received.  If you still would like a baby bottle and you have not received one please inbox me and I will get you one.

Our next step:

Once we complete our HS we can start applying for grants and loans to help us raise money for the adoption. We will also be working on our Profile which we will be used to present us to different Birth Moms.

Thanks for the love and support.

Questions and Answers

We cannot begin to put into words how blessed we have been since announcing our plan to adopt. Since we announced our plan to adopt we have received so many questions about our journey. Here are some of the questions asked to us.

Why are you adopting?
We have felt very strong about adoption since before we started trying to have kids. I think God knew what he was doing when he laid it on our hearts. We knew long before losing Camryn that we would adopt one day. This is a very touchy subject for us. Please be careful in the way you word why not just have more kids. We know that God has laid this on our hearts and we want to honor his wish for our lives.

Where will Baby Matticola be born?
We are pursuing domestic adoption, which means we are adopting from the United States. We will not know which state our baby will be born until we are selected by a birth mom.

How does this process work?
First we have chosen our adoption path. We have chosen to use Adoption consultants not just one particular agency. We have officially be approved. (YAY!!!) As of right now we will go on the January list to be presented to birth moms. Now that we have been approved we will work with Courtney and she will guide us through the next step. This will be our home study. We will also have to complete a profile book about us. This will be what the agencies use to present us to birth moms. After we complete the home study, our profile book, and some fundraising we will be presented to birth moms.

How long will it take?
We are not sure! The typical adoption process can take anywhere from just a few months to a few years. Our adoption consultants will help make this process go quicker and smoother. They have never had a family wait more than 9 months to bring their baby home( once the family went active and was presented). We are praying that by next Christmas (2015) we will have a baby home.

What are the expenses of adoption?
Most people assume that since we are adopting from the U.S. it will be cheaper, however adoption is expensive. Adoptions in the U.S. typically range from $20,000 to $45,000. The cost is very scary and most people have been shocked to learn how much it is going to cost. Our plan to fund this adoption is through fundraising and grants. Once we are home study approved we can apply for grants. Our consultant will work with us through this process. We are currently looking into different fundraiser options. Right now we are in the process of the baby bottle fund (filling bottles with change). We are planning on a Yard Sale also. If you have any good fundraising ideas please share.

How Old? Gender? Race?

We will be adopting a newborn. We are open to whatever God presents us.

How can you help?
The number one way is we would love for you to be a part of our journey through prayer! There are so many unknowns in this process; we are putting our faith in God during this process and we know that he has a plant for us. He is in control of this journey. Please pray that we continue to trust him through this journey. You can also help us by asking your friends to join in on praying for us during this time.

Also if you feel led to help us fund our adoption we have a go fund me link set up on our blog. It is listed as Adoption Fund on the side of the page.

Please keep asking us questions about our journey. Again we are so thankful to have friends like you to walk with us along this journey. We know that this baby is going to be loved by so many.

***We would also like to thank those of you that have turned your bottles in already. Please let me know if you still need a bottle. I am trying really hard to remember ever person who has told me they wanted one.

Update

Our bottle fund is underway. We have passed out over 80 baby bottles so far. I am just amazed at the love and support we are receiving on this journey. Our story was read over 1,000 times in the first two hours after our announcement. I cannot say thank you enough for all the prayers and support.

Since our story has been read so many times does anyone know anyone who does home studies? We would love to go ahead and get started with our home study. The faster we get it finished the faster we can go active and find a match. If you know anyone please send me there contact info. Thanks!!!
